Theodore (Ted) J. Brown
Director, Portfolio Advisory Group
Ted joined the firm in 2006, bringing over 15 years of investment consulting experience. As the Director of the Portfolio Advisory Group, he works closely with the advisors in evaluating and managing current and prospective client portfolios, as well as providing insight on money managers, asset allocation, the economy, and financial markets. His investment consulting career began at William M. Mercer Investment Consulting as a Senior Portfolio Analyst, evaluating large institutional pools of money (e.g. endowments, foundations, pension plans, 401k). Ted then became the Director of Research for the Investment Consulting Group at J.C. Bradford & Co. Thereafter, he was the Director of Investment Manager Research for Legg Mason’s Consulting Group. Most recently, Ted was a Director of Sales and Marketing for Golden Capital Management.
Ted holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from James Madison University, and a Master of Business Administration in International Business and a Master of Science in Finance both from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He, his wife, Tammy, and their three children, Kyle, Nathan, and Emma Grace, live in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Ted and his wife are active volunteers at their church, their children’s sports teams, Harrisonburg Children’s Museum and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
