Susan E. Dorsey
Director and Partner
A Director and Partner, Susan Dorsey brings over 25 years of operational and sales management expertise to Cary Street Partners. Prior to joining the firm, she was a Senior Vice President with the Stewart Wealth Management Group of Wachovia Securities in the Fredericksburg, Virginia (Stewart Wealth Management merged with Cary Street Partners in June of 2007).
Susan began her career in the securities industry in 1986 at Wheat First Securities in Fredericksburg. For 14 years she held a variety of operational and management positions in Fredericksburg, Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia locations. Her diversified career path has included recruiting, training and facilitating the opening of numerous branch locations.
In 2001, Legg Mason Wood Walker opened a Fredericksburg office which she joined as Senior Vice President, Branch Manager. There she was responsible for the management and oversight of that location until she rejoined Stewart Wealth Management in 2004 and managed the daily operations of the business.
In 2006, Susan worked with Wachovia and Cary Street Partner associates to help Cary Street Partners create and execute the various requirements of FINRA to become a broker dealer. In 2007, she officially joined Cary Street Partners following the merger with Stewart Wealth Management.
Today, Susan plays a pivotal role in Cary Street Partners Wealth Management Division where she leads the selection, training and mentoring process of new advisors and ensures each is provided exceptional administrative, research and analytical support. Susan is also a member of the firm’s Legal and Compliance Committee as well as the Administrative Working Group.

Susan has a degree in Liberal Arts from Concordia College in Bronxville, New York and holds numerous FINRA brokerage and management licenses. She and her husband David are long-time residents of downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia.
