Mike McCool serves his clients from the firm’s Abingdon, Virginia office. Mike joined Cary Street Partners in 2009 after determining the larger “corporate giant” financial services model no longer embodied his personal business philosophy. At Cary Street Partners, Mike found an organization which, like him, places great value on relationships and believes all clients should receive high-level, goal-oriented advice developed through a collaborative effort of experts.
“The best advisors don’t run and hide during extreme market conditions, they work as a team, they stick to a strategy and they successfully manage risk and return for their clients,” explains Mike when describing his decision to join Cary Street Partners.
Today, Mike manages millions in assets for individuals, family trusts, and institutions and continues to find his greatest reward in helping clients achieve their goals.
Mike began his career in 2004 as an Investment Advisor at Highlands Union Bank in Abingdon, Virginia where he obtained his FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 licenses as well as his Life/Health insurance license. In 2007, Mike joined Chris Walters in his Abingdon-based wealth management practice at Banc of America Investment Services. In 2009, the tandem joined Cary Street Partners and founded the Abingdon office.
Mike is a 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a Bachelor of Business Administration, concentration in Finance. He was also a member of William and Mary’s golf team. Since moving back into Southwest Virginia, Mike has been active in the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Glenrochie Country Club, a member of the Washington County Public Library Foundation Board and was recently elected to the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator Board. Mike and his family currently reside in his hometown of Abingdon, Virginia.
