Mergers and Acquisitions

Smooth, seamless and smart.

Mergers and acquisitions are about details. They’re about strategy, timing, structure and relationships. Fortunately, the team at Cary Street Partners has experience in every aspect of M&A.

Our practice focuses on transactions between $15 million and $250 million. Our clientele of privately held companies and smaller public corporations comes to us for help with acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings and corporate spin-offs. Our team also assists with private transactions and management buyouts, and they have ready access to both strategic and financial buyers.

To learn more about what our team has done, review our transaction experience, our specific industry experience, and or our complete deal sheet. We’ve helped it all come together for close to 200 transactions. And counting.

Company Background:

Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, Agility Healthcare Solutions was founded in 2002 by Fran Dirksmeier, the former CEO of McKesson Medical Surgical, and Dan Neuwirth, the former COO of McKesson Medical Surgical. Privately held, Agility Healthcare’s products use real-time location systems to transform the way hospitals track, manage, measure and improve the patient care process.

Transaction Summary:

In April of 2008, Agility engaged Cary Street Partners to assist them with the sale of their business. Our firm had previously worked with Agility to secure venture capital investors. Committed to achieving Agility’s strategic and financial goals, Cary Street Partners helped successfully position and then sell Agility to GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) on September 30, 2008 (one day after the single largest drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average).

CEO Interview/Experience:

"Our business started with a vision of improving the quality of healthcare delivery by coordinating and managing the operational elements of patient care, and with the sale to GE, we have a tremendous opportunity to further advance this goal," said Fran Dirksmeier, CEO, Agility Healthcare Solutions. "By joining GE Healthcare, we can reach more providers globally and present more complete solutions to our clients."

"Working with Cary Street Partners was an extremely positive experience. They came to the table with substantial industry M&A experience and the skill to help us access and motivate potential buyers. They were professional, accessible and committed to achieving the preferred outcome, a successful strategic and financial sale."
