About Cary Street Partners

From Skyscraper to Brownstone

CSP exterior

It was a crisp autumn day in 2002. Two well-known financial executives walked down a cobblestone street, toward a historic brownstone in Richmond’s Shockoe Slip. They turned the key to that building, opened the door, and started a whole new way of doing business.

These two men, Mark Gambill and Tom Tullidge, stepped down from their jobs at a major investment firm to get back to the core of investment banking and wealth management. They declared that their new firm would always:

  • Serve clients on a very personal level,
  • Stay independent so they could remain objective,
  • Hire only like-minded, seasoned professionals, and
  • Offer clients access to the capabilities of every expert under their roof.

The word spread. Prominent financial professionals joined the firm. Clients -- from high net worth individuals to middle market companies to non-profits -- followed suit.

Today, Cary Street Partners has eight locations and more than 65 people. The firm’s capabilities are just as sophisticated as what you’ll find in many skyscrapers. And it all takes place in an intimate setting; one where you can be assured that you are getting attention from top-level financial executives.
